AskAdy... Adrian Burton of South East Workwear runs the popular AskAdy site, which hosts independent reviews of workwear garments. This month, he’s discussing the Bison IGS boot from V12 The Bison ISG VR600.01 boot is the second edition of this design and is even more stylish than its bestselling predecessor. If you have never worn a pair of V12 boots let me assure you these boots are amazing; the work that goes into each pair is second to none. I have been fortunate enough to have been invited to V12 on a few occasions to see their showroom and get some insider info on what is coming – sorry, all top secret! This beautiful boot has been redesigned from the sole up and now sits on the brand new IGS (Intelligent Grip System) sole unit. The sole is rubber, making it one of the safest products to have on your feet and will effectively limit the possibility of slipping. The sole is rated at SRC (which V12 says is the top rating for slip resistance under the EN ISO 20345:2011 standard) and has a hexagon pattern that allows water to be dispersed out of the sole, thus reducing the likelihood of water being trapped between the sole and the floor. It also gives you high traction on almost any surface. The top of the boot is made from leather and the quality grain of the leather is thick and strong. I love the style of the low back as it gives less restriction when driving and bending down. The fully composite sole and toecap also reduce the weight of the boot. The heel on the sole unit has a spring system inside that reduces stress on feet and legs, and the inside of the boot is highly breathable and moisture reducing due to the clever feature of the air pump system, which circulates air through the base of the insole. The Bison has a great size range from 3-13 and is a nice, wide fit due to the use of the composite cap. This boot offers many other features – it’s anti-static, has heat-resistance to 300°C, and offers protection against hydrocarbons, plus it’s waterproof S3-rated as well. If you want to offer your customers a brilliant boot and they have around £50-£60 to spend, you would have to be mad not to offer them these. I love them! www.askady.com INDUSTRY NEWS www.images-magazine.com 08 images DECEMBER 2017 WORKWEAR REVIEW To see AskAdy’s round-up of the best waterproof boots currently on the market, visit www.images-magazine.com . Decoral appoints TheMagicTouch as exclusive UK distributors for Duraluxe TheMagicTouch (TMT) has been appointed exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Duraluxe HD powder-coated aluminium sublimation panels, which are suitable for outdoor use. Jim Nicol, TMT’s MD, reported that the HD powder-coated aluminium panels can be printed in full-colour using most sublimation ink transfers and a suitable professional transfer heat press. What is unique about the panels, he said, is their UV-resistance and anti-graffiti properties, which together make the Duraluxe panels an ideal and innovative solution for full- colour outdoor signage. Jim added that while printed aluminium panels are already a popular choice for indoor use, they are commonly manufactured using liquid-coating technologies, which he said cannot deliver the certified UV-protection required for use outdoors. TMT partnered with Decoral Inc, a global leader in powder coating technology for the past 30 years, to introduce the Duraluxe powder-coated aluminium sublimation panels, which come with a certified guarantee for outdoor use. “After extensive research and development at Decoral’s Lab facility in Florida, USA, combined with certified accelerated weather testing to the ISO 11664-4 standard, Duraluxe panels offer an unrivalled five-year outdoor minimum guarantee, and also superb anti-graffiti qualities against inks and sprays,” said Jim. The panels are 1.2mm thick, available in various standard sizes up to 2.4m, with HD imaging quality complementing their outdoor-, scratch- and chemical-resistance. They are compatible with most recognised sublimation ink brands, including Sawgrass, Jtec, Kiian, Sensient, STS and Epson, and their “unique, patented, double powder-coating process” allows them to be trimmed and shaped easily without flaking or sharp edge s. www.themagictouch.co.uk The new Bison ISG VR600.01 boot from V12 PCA Vision 2018 awards now open to European students The Professional Clothing Awards has launched PCA Vision 2018, a competition that invites students from selected design colleges and universities across Europe to share their vision of stylish, functional, professional clothing.
