He commented: “After an amazing nine years working with DecoNetwork I’ve decided to move on and explore some new adventures… DecoNetwork has been a very rewarding challenge. Taking a small product of a few clients to a global product with 1,000s of subscribers has been an experience I will treasure. “Working with the team to deliver DecoNetwork 8 has been a highlight. The advancements in this release are breath-taking and I’m exceptionally proud of what the team has created. It’s bittersweet for me that I won’t be there for the launch [scheduled to be in the first quarter of 2018], but I am confident in what this release and the team can deliver.” www.deconetwork.com www.wilcom.com Virus launches new Geo PreviewWhite Virus has created Geo Preview White, a white water-based ink that it says is highly stable in the screen and suitable for any kind of cotton printing. It promises “perfect coverage” even on the darkest fabrics, along with a smooth, soft touch surface that it says is “easily over-printable”. It is PVC-, phthalate-, formaldehyde- and heavy metal-free and meets Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1. www.virusinks.com VAL creates innovative transfers for acrylic knits Transfer specialist VAL has developed a new transfer process that can be applied to acrylics and other heat-sensitive fabrics, reports managing director Vernon Bradshaw. Heat curing on acrylics has traditionally been difficult because acrylic knits are not able to withstand high temperatures, he explains, adding that transfers that can be applied without heat curing tend to then stretch with the garment, quickly distorting any logos or writing on the print. The transfer developed by VAL doesn’t stretch or distort and goes on beautifully, says Vernon. “The secret is in the adhesive. The temperature that we apply it at is below that which will do damage to acrylic, which is very low.” Currently the company is applying this transfer in-house only, but it should be available for decorators to apply themselves towards the back end of next year. Vernon says the resulting image is of a very high quality and extremely durable, and is competitively priced compared to embroidery. He recommends it in particular for breast pocket, sleeve and beanie hat prints, and says the company offers its “usual fast turnaround”. www.val-ltd.co.uk New Geo PreviewWhite ink from Virus VAL has developed a transfer process for use on acrylics
