The latest innovation from Kornit is the HD technology for the Avalanche and Storm machines, where the same print quality is promised, but with 46% less ink used compared with previous generations for the Avalanche, and 30% for the Storm. “This translates into a significantly better competitiveness against screen printing, both cost-wise and in terms of hand-feel,” says Kornit. “It goes without saying that all Kornit’s NeoPigment inks are Okeo-Tex certified and GOTS pre-approved. www.kornit.com Target Transfers: Sportsfilm Heat Transfer Vinyl Target Transfers reports that big improvements have been made to the application time of Stahls’ Sportsfilm Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV): users are now able to fuse designs with a heat press at 160°C in just five seconds, and the design can be peeled back while still hot. “Stahls’ Sportsfilm HTV is the best value material for decorating your everyday textiles and garments,” says Target. It is said to work well on lightweight activewear, and the company also suggests using it on T-shirts, sweatshirts and uniforms, noting that thanks to its durability, detailed designs that are easy to weed are also possible. Sportsfilm HTV is available in 35 different colours and is available to purchase by the metre or the roll. Target says it can be cut after a “very short drying time” and is suitable for most textiles and offers great stretchability. www.targettransfers.com The Stahls’ Sportsfilm Heat Transfer Vinyl is available from Target Transfers Kornit’s NeoPigment inks are Okeo-Tex certified GS UK: Brother Innobella Textile Ink GS UK has the following advice for customers using the Brother GTX DTG printer: “Always use original Brother Innobella Textile inks. Ensure the inks are in date: always try and order what you need as and when you need it. Inks need to be stored in a normal working environment, avoiding direct sunlight or extreme cold. “As with any machine, good housekeeping is very important: simple everyday checks can save you time and money in the long run. Every time you use the GTX machine check the ink pouches are being rolled correctly or it could lead to false low ink messages. Check your cleaning solution is regularly topped up and ensure you have constant stock levels. There is no point in investing in a machine if you cannot use it because you have run out of a basic consumable. The Brother GTX automatically informs the operator when fan filters or flushing foams etc need replacing; ideally have two sets of DTG consumables in stock at all times. “How often items need replacing may often be due to the type of prints you produce on the machine. For example, when printing on thicker sweatshirts or bulky hoodies the platen is lower, which may result in more ink mist occurring, causing the fan filters to need replacing sooner. “And finally, after any maintenance or cleaning schedule, perform test prints on both the white and CMYK print heads.” www.brothergtinks.com GS UK offers both advice and consumables for Brother GTX users
