Available exclusively in the UK and Ireland from YES, the new MT series has a standard range of 12 thread colours with an extra eight needles for one-off jobs. A spokesperson for Ricoma said: “This not only makes the machine more flexible, but also more profitable because it saves users time, and time is money.” The MT series has a maximum speed of 1,200 stitches per minute, and high capacity memory storage of 20 million stitches, or 200 designs, as standard. It also features a high-definition True Colour 8” LCD touchscreen, a one-step tracing button on the home screen, automatic colour change and a low wattage servo motor, as well as a new small sewing arm, which is said to make the embroidery of caps and small items easier. www.yesltd.co.uk The new MT series is availabl e exclusively from YES R A Smart has announced it will hold an open house event for industry visitors in conjunction with HP on 12 November. The event will showcase the full range of HP’s new Stitch dye- sublimation printers – the HP Stitch S300, S500 and S1000 – along with live demonstrations of textile finishing. Alex Mighall, market development manager at R A Smart, said: “The R A Smart open days provide visitors with a unique opportunity to not only see the absolute latest textile printers available on the market, but also to have a full factory tour of our wider operation, which includes our traditional screen printing, silk weaving and digital departments.” An education open day will be held on Wednesday 13 November and will be open to visitors from educational establishments only. Both events will follow the same layout and are free to attend. Each event is scheduled to take place from 10am-4pm at R A Smart’s premises in Bollington, Macclesfield, with light refreshment provided throughout the day. The company exhibited the new product at the event alongside Hirsch Solutions. Magnus Hellström, vice president of sales and marketing at Coloreel, said: “This is an important step into an important market where the Coloreel unit can be used to the fullest extent. The American market is made for Coloreel since they have the largest personalisation market in the world.” Kris Janowski, president of Hirsch Solutions, added: “We are excited to explore the Coloreel opportunities within the US market.” www.coloreel.com New wheat straw clothing launched In October, Fortum and Spinnova introduced the “world’s first” wheat straw- based clothing at the Textile Exchange Sustainability Conference (TESC) in Vancouver, Canada. The companies showcased their first prototype products made from agricultural waste – namely wheat straw – which included a knitted T-shirt, as well as a jacket and skirt made of a woven fabric on organic cotton warp.
