Started in 2012 by former screen printer Bruce Ackerman, Printavo was a way to help solve a business need. Bruce had a print shop in Illinois, US, and quickly realised the difficulty in managing workflow, approvals, scheduling and more with a growing team. He felt the solutions offered were “unnecessarily complex” and not focused on the core aspects of his business. Printavo was created to help solve that need for Bruce’s print shop and others in the area. Magic Buttons, a colour separation plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, contains a set of tools that printers can use when working with the colour and tone of the image. These tools include Basic Colors, a classic set of filters to highlight the mixed colours; Advanced Colors, which allows users to select part of the grey range, which they can then edit and colourise – this set is suitable for working with the colour of human skin, water and other similar objects with a predominant primary colour; Manual Underbase, which offers advanced features for underbase generation, allowing users to accurately control the process and get exactly as much white under each of the colours as needed; and Rasterization Kit, which allows users to see the rasterised file in colour and make final adjustments – each colour is rasterised in a separate channel and the original colour is assigned to it, allowing users to work with a fully rasterised colour image. www.magic-buttons.com ShopWorks Software: OnSite 8 ShopWorks Software, a company that specialises in developing business software specifically for the embellished product industry, says its latest product, OnSite 8, now offers “a more powerful, more intuitive and more collaborative way to track and manage orders”.
