The initial release is designed for use with the Graphics One turnkey ScreenMate film positive printing systems. Graphics One vice president Dan Barefoot said: “For many years, screen printers who used the Macintosh as their platform of choice have had limited-featured RIP products to use in their screen print workflow. “With the launch of GO ColorMate RIP SP, this changes with the inclusion of our extensive range of software power tools developed specifically for the use of Mac-based screen printers.” Graphics One will follow this launch with ColorMate Mac-native RIPs for Oki, dye-sublimation, DTG and DTF printing machines. imagesmag.uk/go-colormate Secabo to present new heat press at Fespa 2021 Secabo is to present a newly developed heat press with smart functions alongside other innovations for garments at Fespa Global Print Expo in Amsterdam this October. Made in Germany, the new TS7 Smart is a high-performance, fast-working product that offers a large working surface of 40cm by 50cm. The base plate is arranged in portrait mode, simplifying the positioning of the transfer objects. The heat press can handle objects up to seven centimetres in height and has a modular structure, which is described as being ideal for creating a fully individualised “workhorse”. Secabo will also be showing the new Secabo Shelving System, a modular system for storing rolls of film and tables for heat presses and cutting plotters, at Fespa. imagesmag.uk/secabo-fespa21 ‘Ill-timed’ national insurance rise will ‘hammer’ business Rises in national insurance contributions and dividend tax are “ill-timed” and a “hammer blow” for companies, according to a number of UK business leaders. Organisations including the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), the Institute of Directors, the CBI, the British Chambers of Commerce and manufacturers’ association Make UK universally attacked the proposal announced in September. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there would be a 1.25% increase in national insurance contributions (NICs) for employers, employees and sole traders from April next year alongside a 1.25% increase in dividend taxation. It is intended to fund health services and social care. Stephen Phipson, chief executive of Make UK, said manufacturers fully supported the need for funding for the NHS and social care but not through an increase in tax on employers and employees. “Putting a tax on jobs and workers at a time when Government is pulling the furlough scheme is ill- timed as well as illogical. “Economic history tells us that job cuts are most likely when the economy starts to open again after a downturn because firms need the capital to reset.” Kitty Ussher, who became the new chief economist at the Institute of Directors last month, agreed that it was bad timing to add to the cost of employing people. “Due to the much- publicised labour shortages, our own research shows that 73% of businesses are already concerned about rising salary-related business costs.” imagesmag.uk/ni-rise As with all Secabo Smart series products, the Gold Edition devices feature a bluetooth interface and can be controlled using the Secabo Smart Transfer App Kitty Ussher of the Institute of Directors reports companies are concerned about rising salary costs Secabo’s new TS7 Smart will be on show at Fespa from 12-15 October 2021 Graphics One is introducing ColorMate RIP software for dye sub printers and other printing systems
