We have such a wide range of customers, ranging from small independents needing printed and embroidered clothing and workwear to large enterprise companies where we service all their workwear and PPE needs using bespoke ordering portals. A large part of our business is now contract embroidery for name brands, which has completely changed the way we operate. What is the latest embroidery machine you’ve purchased? We recently bought a ZSK Racer 6-head; we purchased this in September and bought it to add to what we currently have. It was needed due to more embroidery work from clients. Why did you opt for the ZSK machine? We decided to stay with ZSK and Stocks after our last successful purchase. We chose this machine due to its reliability; we run our machines for 16 hours a day and it was important to us to have a machine that can endure the amount of work we require from them. We like how simple the ZSK machines are to operate, it means our team has one less thing to worry about when setting jobs up. Is there anything you’d like to see in an upgrade or don’t particularly like about it? We are really happy with our machine. The one thing the single-head machines have an advantage with is the laser – although not essential, it would be a great addition! What’s your advice on using the ZSK? The key to getting the most out of your machine is maintenance – the better you look after it, the more work it can do. It’s always better to spend a few minutes each day making sure it’s clean and oiled ready for the next shift than spend a down day with an engineer! What type of work does it do? We use our multi-head machines for most of our jobs, so the job sizes can vary from 300-2,000 of each design, depending on the client. We mainly stick with regular garments, but the machine works great with caps too. What other embroidery machines do you have? We already had some six-head ZSK machines, but also use some single-head ZSK machines, as well as single-head Brothers for smaller orders. We don’t link any of our machines together, we run them all independently. What would be your advice to anyone considering buying an embroidery machine? It’s good to think long-term before you buy a machine; being able to use the same attachments and frames across all machines should be something considered to make work easier in the future. It’s also important to know how much you will use the machine: will it add to capacity or can you get more work from what you currently have? www.logologogroup.co.uk Reliability is very important as the machine runs for 16 hours each day, says Damian Doughty
