It was created for I.Stygall Electrical Services, a one-man band that is local to Peterborough-based Promotional Threads. Owner Jessie Jellis explains that the owner Ian wanted “something a little different and more fun than your classic electrician logo”. He sent over the design, which Promotional Threads then digitised in-house using Wilcom EmbroideryStudio. The logo is, confirms Jessie, “the spitting image” of Ian. Stitched on a Tajima four-head, the design used Madeira Classic 40 thread throughout and was embroidered on Klassic Polos (KK403) from Kustom Kit, which Jessie says is “a great polo for workwear”. She adds: “Ian was over the moon with them and [said they] made him chuckle as he didn’t want anything serious on his garments!” www.promotionalthreads.co.uk DECORATED PRODUCT OF THE MONTH This colourful electrician was embroidered on Klassic Polos from Kustom Kit Tributes paid to Ian and Sara MacPherson of Madeira UK The directors of embroidery thread supplier Madeira have informed the industry about the passing of Ian MacPherson at the age of 85, and of his wife Sara, aged 79, who died of an unrelated illness just weeks later. Ian played a critical role in the history of the Madeira group, founding Madeira UK in 1983. As the managing director of Madeira UK, working alongside Sara, who was company secretary until their retirement in 2001, Ian firmly established the Madeira brand in the consumer and industry arenas in this region. Ulrich and Michael Schmidt, directors of Madeira group, and Karen Burrows, managing director of Madeira UK, released the sad news on 20 October 2021. In a statement, they added: “They [Ian and Sara] were well known and respected, making many contacts and lifelong friends. Our thoughts are with all the family at this extremely difficult time.” imagesmag.uk/madeira- macpherson Ian and Sara MacPherson (centre)
