ADVERTORIAL www.images-magazine.com JUNE 2021 images 03 Featuring organic cotton and recycled polyester, the new-for-2021 sustainable collection from Just Hoods is on-trend in terms of style and fabric. Kirsten Ferrol explains why these styles are already going down a storm with both decorators and end users J ust Hoods has launched the Organic range, a collection of garments that uses a blend of 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled polyester to enable its customers to minimise their impact on the environment. “Sustainability and environmentally conscious clothing is a trend that is here to stay,” states Kirsten Ferrol, product manager for Just Hoods by AWDis. “This new organic and recycled collection is Just Hoods’ first step in helping to make a big difference to do better, to be better and to inspire change. “As the forward-thinking brand, we are always aiming to provide the best and the most sought-after product for our customers and this has been one of the key reasons for introducing the new Organic range.” Created for decorators A unique selling point of the new styles is their 100% organic cotton face, which ensures they offer decorators an unbeatable print surface, explains Kirsten. “Having the 100% cotton face means that, like our staple JH001 College Hoodie, the Organic styles are easy to embellish using a multitude of techniques.” The new sustainable collection has been designed to have universal appeal thanks to the relaxed fit of the garments, which is combined with a beautifully soft, brushed inner. In addition to the collection’s eco- credentials, all the garments also carry the Peta-approved Vegan logo. This gives buyers total assurance that the products are free from any animal products or derivatives. will be too pricey for them to consider are also being happily surprised: “We have worked closely with our supply partners to ensure being sustainable is affordable for everyone. It is all about balance. We offer a range that has minimal environmental impact at a very competitive price.” Marketing the environmental benefit Sustainability in fashion is increasingly important to consumers, making it straightforward for decorators to market the Organic range from Just Hoods to end users. The brand recommends that decorators simply communicate the benefits of using organic cotton in terms of its environmental impact to let people really buy into the range. “We have some fab resources that can be downloaded from our websites to help with this,” adds Kirsten. “Alternatively, our AWDis brand ambassadors will happily help and talk customers through the benefits and key features of the new sustainable garments.” As for the future, the Just Hoods team is continuing to look at ways to make the brand more sustainable: “We have some exciting new developments in the pipeline,” promises Kirsten. Organic cotton reduces water usage and eliminates synthetic fertilisers and pesticides, resulting in healthier soil. Similarly, recycled polyester has no quality difference, but is a sustainable choice because of its reuse of a waste product, instead of using highly polluting, virgin materials.” Kirsten adds that “There is no change in how you approach printing on organic garments, however we would recommend keeping the environmental story going by using eco-friendly inks and materials.” Bestselling and sustainable The range came together very quickly. “We knew we wanted to offer our customers a sustainable alternative to our bestselling styles and colours. The most complicated decision was what style of drawcord we wanted to use!” (In the end, the team opted for a brushed silver tip on the drawcords with matching eyelets.) The response from customers so far has been incredibly positive. “They are excited to have a core, sustainable, mid-weight range that is available in key and fashion colours,” says Kirsten.
