Ready for the summer, the new NS01Light style is offered in a wide range of sizes and colours. Made from a 160gsm, 100% Gots-certified organic cotton fabric, the lightweight tees are dyed with azo-free dyes and stitched in a carbon-neutral factory. They are available in sizes XS-5XL in classic black, white, navy blue and grey marl, as well as in the new shades of red and bottle green. “Over the past few months, we’ve done test runs with screen printers around the UK and Europe, and have received glowing feedback,” explained No Sweat. “Many printers have commented on how well they hold the print, noted the quality of the double stitching, and have said they are comparable to, if not better than, the most popular brands on the market.” The new NS01Light is also available in women’s sizes. imagesmag.uk/NS01Light ECO INDUSTRY NEWS Epson sets new sustainability goals Leading printer manufacturer Epson has committed to new objectives over sustainability including becoming “carbon negative” by 2050. Its “sustainability-focused vision for the future” features a commitment to reduce its carbon emissions by 2030 in line with a scenario that keeps the global temperature rise to less than 1.5°C. Epson is also joining the RE100, a global collective of businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity – a milestone it aims to achieve by 2023. The company has also committed to become carbon negative, meaning its carbon footprint is less than neutral with the net effect of removing carbon, and free of using underground resources by 2050. It aims to achieve these goals through a programme of decarbonisation, closing resource loops, customer environmental impact mitigation and the development of innovative environmental technologies. The new commitments were welcomed by Yoshiro Nagafusa, who was appointed president of Epson Europe on 1 April. “I am particularly proud to take on this leadership role for Epson Europe as we enter a new phase for the company. I look forward to leading our European operations as we work to reduce the impact Epson products and services and supply chains have on the environment.” He was previously senior vice president for Epson Europe with responsibility for optimising infrastructure and sales operations in the organisation’s CISMEA region. imagesmag.uk/epson- sustainability Half of ‘fast fashion’ clothing online uses new plastics Around half of clothing sold by the biggest online ‘fast fashion’ retailers is made from new plastics such as polyester, according to a new report, Fast Fashion’s Plastic Problem, published by the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). Researchers for the RSA analysed 10,000 garments added to the Asos, Boohoo, PrettyLittleThing and Missguided websites over two weeks in May and found that an average of 49% were made entirely of new plastics such as polyester, acrylic and nylon. The study found that as much as 88% of the recently listed items on PrettyLittleThing contained new, or virgin, plastics. For some stores, only 1% of the garments listed contained recycled materials. Retailers have committed to improving their record on the use of plastics. Missguided has pledged to ensure that 10% of its products use recycled fibres by the end of 2021 and 25% by the end of 2022.
