Five members of an extended Bradford family have been ordered to pay back the proceeds of their “industrial-scale” screen printing operation decorating counterfeit clothing and selling it online. The case was brought by West Yorkshire Trading Standards following an investigation. At the court hearing on 30 November 2021 under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, His Honour Judge Burn found the family had benefited by a total of £1,797,559.16 from their criminal enterprise. He ordered the family to pay confiscation orders totalling £1,513,163.49 which represented the total of their available assets. The sum was split in varying amounts among the defendants, brothers Amar Choudry, Yasir Choudry and Qaisar Choudry of Duchy Crescent, Bradford, their brother Faisal Choudry of Duchy Drive and their brother-in-law Mudasar Alishan of Oakdale Drive, Shipley. They were each sentenced in February 2019 at Bradford Crown Court for their offending, each receiving a two-year custodial sentence suspended for two years with a requirement to undertake 300 hours’ unpaid work. imagesmag.uk/bradford-court Smake adds new features for automating decorators’ workflow New features have been added to improve Smake, the system that automates and controls production and fulfilment for garment decorators. The cloud-based workflow solution, ideal for automating on-demand printing and embroidery, now incorporates inventory management for ensuring stocks match up with customers’ orders. Smake has also expanded the options for creating shipping labels, supporting ShipCloud and ShippyPro as well as the existing GoShippo. It is now possible to select, in the manual shipping methods, whether no label, an address label or a shipping label should be printed via a multi- carrier. Headed by Kenan and Kathryn Mator, the garment printing and embroidery business was also a finalist and runner-up for the Start- Up Business of the Year award at the Hull Live Business Awards. Announcing their win, the couple said: “Despite it being an extremely difficult year, to receive recognition on both a local level from the Hull Business Awards and regionally from the Prestige Awards has really made everything worthwhile.
