The Department for Education announced the new rule for England in November, saying it was aimed at making sure school uniform costs were “reasonable”, “affordable” and “value for money”. From autumn this year, state schools and academies will be required to help keep costs down by taking steps to remove “unnecessary” branded items and allowing more high-street options such as supermarket own-brand uniform. Matt Easter, co-chair of the Schoolwear Association, said: “We welcome this guidance as it takes a balanced and proportionate approach towards ensuring parents get good value for money from uniforms without creating unreasonable burdens on schools or uniform suppliers.” Read the new guidance at www. gov.uk/government/publications/ school-uniform. imagesmag.uk/uniform-guidance View our latest videos: vimeo.com/imagesmaguk Laughing Whale Print & Embroidery This bold logo was embroidered by Laughing Whale Print & Embroidery in Whitby on workwear for WWilson Wholesale. imagesmag.uk/Laughing-Whale-Wilson The Schoolwear Association welcomes new guidance on schoolwear Anatol’s all- electric Volt screen printing press, now distributed in the UK by Kippax Kippax becomes Anatol screen print equipment distributor US-based Anatol Equipment Manufacturing Co has formed a new partnership with Huddersfield-based HG Kippax & Sons to distribute its textile printing equipment in the UK and Ireland.
