Result’s Genuine Recycled collection consists of garments manufactured with speciality fabrics made from recycled plastic such as PET bottles and post-industrial waste. By mid-December 2021, Genuine Recycled had already stopped the equivalent of 4,618,634 one-litre bottles going to landfill. Result hopes to double this figure every year, aiming to increase use of recycled materials in its products and reduce or eliminate the harm caused in their production. imagesmag.uk/result-bottle Gildan gains high ranking in sustainability index Garment manufacturer Gildan Activewear has made it into the 2021 Dow Jones Sustainability Index which ranks companies’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. It marks Gildan’s ninth consecutive year of inclusion in the list of publicly traded companies since it first gained entry onto the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2013. The results confirm that Gildan continues to be a leader in ESG, ranking in the 95th percentile of all companies in the textiles, apparel and luxury goods industry. It is the only apparel manufacturer on the North American index. imagesmag.uk/gildan-dowjones Digital tags support garment recycling Efforts to increase recycling of used garments have taken a step forward with a new partnership formed by Evrythng, which provides technology for digitising product labels. It has teamed up with Re-Fashion, the secondhand clothing website, which will work with fashion brands to encourage consumers to recycle their unwanted clothing, providing information via codes on care labels that can be scanned on a smartphone. Evrythng’s Active Digital Identities, using data stored in the Evrythng Product Cloud, allows garment manufacturers, decorators and retailers to create a unique digital profile for every individual product. It picked up the accolade in the Supply Chain Engagement category at The Planet Mark Awards 2021, which are held to celebrate organisations that are actively tackling the climate crisis while helping to build more sustainable communities.
