STEP-BY-STEP: HIGH-BUILD SCREEN PRINT The colours were made using the Wilflex Epic Rio mixing system, using the ink management software IMS3.0. The PMS 361 Green was printed through a 61T screen, then flashed and followed by PMS 2727 Blue through a 61T screen. The clear ink for the high-build texture was a 50/50 blend of Wilflex Epic HDC and Wilflex Epic Sharp Clear inks printed through a 300 micron stencil – double stroked, flashed and then printed softly so as not to force all the ink though the stencil. The T-shirt was then cured using an M&R Fusion R series dryer at 230°C – Milosj recommends checking the first print to make sure it has cured properly. The result is a perfect high-build print. Although Milosj chose not to do this here, the colours can also be printed wet-on- wet (the grey base must be dried first though). It is also important to adjust the 'off contact' to take into account the height of the ink base you are over-printing. The aim is not to clear the stencil area, so that when the screen is lifted up there is a suction effect that will give a unique look and texture to the print. The hidden 'mad' effect: phosphorescent ink (glow-in-the-dark) and some Wilflex Epic Lunar Clear, which glows in black light, were added to the Wilflex Epic Clear ink blend to give an extra special look under certain light conditions. 7 9 11 8 10 12 View a video of Milosj's print TIPS & TECHNIQUES www.images-magazine.com 22 images JANUARY 2021
