Each issue, one reader tells us why they rate a particular product William Smillie, operations manager at Border Embroideries in Greenlaw, says his favourite garment to embroider is the 1/4 Zip Top (H862) from Henbury. “It’s a great top, and I personally wear one six days a week in the office – it’s warm, comfortable, a great fit and stylish.” William adds that the H862 also washes well and doesn’t need to be ironed. “We have a lot of customers now using them, and they’ve all commented on how good they are. It has a smooth finish, and is very easy to embroider for a classy, modern look.” William comments that, “The beauty of this product is it’s very versatile – it’s great for smart casual corporatewear, and also works well as a golf mid-layer or for other sports.” He does have one suggestion for how the 1/4 Zip Top could be improved further, however: “It comes in only two colours – navy would be a great addition to the range.” www.border-embroideries.co.uk READERS’ CHOICE Screenworks invests in a Kornit Avalanche HD6 DTG printer Screenworks has invested in an Avalanche HD6 direct- to-garment printer from Kornit Digital. The garment decoration company said it bought the Avalanche HD6 to help “support its move towards more on-demand printing, enabling shorter print runs and therefore lower minimum order quantities”. Alan Porter, operations director at Screenworks, commented: “We selected the Kornit system because we believe its industrial size is the best fit for our business. The Avalanche brings with it an extremely versatile approach to decorating textiles.” Kornit Digital’s UK and Ireland sales manager, Phil Oakley, added: “We are delighted to welcome Screenworks to the Kornit Digital family. It is a pleasure to work with such a progressive organisation that, even in the toughest of times, only thought about investing for growth.” imagesmag.uk/Screenworks-Avalanche-HD6 Ross Smillie, systems manager at Border Embroideries with John Lamont MP and William Smillie [L-R] Screenworks’ operations director Alan Porter and production manager Tommy Newton with its new Kornit Avalanche HD6 Page experience signals in Google Search ranking to roll out May 2021 A new measurement will be taken into account by Google from May 2021 when calculating a website’s Google Search ranking. Page experience signals measure how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page, and the new signals will combine Core Web Vitals with Google’s existing search signals, including mobile-friendliness, safe browsing, HTTPS security as well as intrusive interstitial guidelines. The change that will see non- accelerated mobile page (AMP) content become eligible to appear in the mobile Top Stories feature in Google Search will also roll out in May 2021. “The goal with these updates is to highlight the best experiences and ensure that users can find the information they’re looking for,” explained Google. “Our work is on-going, which is why we plan to incorporate more page experience signals going forward and update them on a yearly basis.” For practical advice on how to make sure your website is ready for this update, check out the Business Clinic in the February issue of Images . imagesmag.uk/Google-Page- Experience-2021 The new page experience signals will combine Core Web Vitals with Google’s existing search signals
