Backdated to 9 November 2021, the new Living Wage rates have risen to £9.90 per hour across the UK – an increase of 40p – and to £11.05 in London – an increase of 20p. Co-ordinated by the Living Wage Foundation, the real Living Wage is independently calculated based on rising living costs including fuel, energy, rent and food. A full-time worker earning the new Living Wage would earn £1,930 a year more than a worker earning the current government minimum (NLW), which is currently at £8.91 per hour for workers aged 23 and over. Since 2011, the Living Wage campaign has impacted over 300,000 employees, meaning that one in 13 workers now works for an accredited Living Wage employer. Employers in the garment decoration sector include printer I Dress Myself, schoolwear specialist One+All and The Embroidery Barn. imagesmag.uk/livingwage21 Kornit Digital introduces the Presto Max printer Kornit Digital has released the new Kornit Presto Max for printing garments and other textiles on demand and more sustainably. The system is ready to incorporate future iterations and evolutions of XDi technology – 3D decorative applications for threadless embroidery, high-density, vinyl, screen transfer and other innovative effects. Kornit Presto Max is compatible with natural fabrics, synthetics and blends. The new system made its live debut at the Kornit Fashion Week Los Angeles + Industry 4.0 Event which Kornit hosted in Los Angeles in November this year. imagesmag.uk/presto-max Staff at employee-owned One+All where paying the Living Wage is a core part of its ethos Daniel Hummel has become chief technology officer (CTO) at ColorGate, which provides software and hardware for colour printing on garments and other products.
