This in-line system comprises a ‘docking unit’ that converts the stand-alone V-Lux into an integrated in-line system, combining both screen exposure and developing, explains Exile. “The process works as follows: the operator images a screen stencil on the Spyder CTS with typical imaging times of 60 seconds or less, and then the imaged screen is inserted into the V-Lux with 15 memory pre-sets, allowing exposure times to be quickly selected via a touchscreen LCD control panel. “Exposure times will be 10-60 seconds, depending on emulsion and mesh count. While the first screen is exposing, the operator can image another screen on the Spyder CTS. The second imaged screen is then inserted in the V-Lux, automatically pushing the first screen onto the moving belt that transports it into the Inpro Combi-Eco Developer.” Inpro’s Combi-Eco is a fully automatic screen washout (developing) solution, which doubles as a high pressure washout system for screen reclaim — developing times will be approx 70-80 seconds. “Fifty-plus screens per hour can be produced by a single operator controlling the fully automated set-up,” adds the company. Vastex International: Pre-Press System Vastex International has introduced a pre-press system for screen printing shops consisting of five performance-matched components, which are designed to significantly reduce pre- press time and increase registration accuracy. The stainless steel Washout Booth Model VWB-3627 features a frosted acrylic back panel and backlight to aid visual inspection of the screen and frame during cleaning, inspection and final development. The foot-pedal operation of the wall-mounted C-1000 Semi-Automatic Screen Coater also “lowers the screen at a constant rate, allowing application of the emulsion with greater uniformity than is possible using manual methods”, explains Vastex International. “The variable heat and filtered airflow of the Dri-Vault Model VDC-253610 Screen Drying Cabinet also cures coated screens in as little as 20 minutes.” Alongside this, the E2-5236 LED Exposing Unit with a 0.37kW vacuum generator is designed to expose one 130x90cm screen or two 60x90cm screens in as little as 20 seconds, and achieve tight screen-to-glass contact in as little as six seconds for sharp reproduction of fine detail. “The VRS Pin Registration System also allows an operator to align film positives on all screens in register prior to exposing them, and to clamp each screen to the press in register in approximately three minutes per screen, greatly increasing press time, output and profit,” adds the company.
